·         Why did you choose to be an educator?

è I have to be the most honest and admit I did not choose to be a teacher or plan it by any means; when I finished high school, I was very interested in English culture more than anything, that was music, movies, holidays and traditions and so on, and after a thoughtful period of reflection on what I wanted, and my dad wanting me to study an engineering degree I chose to study a degree in foreign languages. Which today I consider one of the best decisions of my life, so in a reflective exercise I dare to state I did not choose my profession because it chose me! And the reason for this could be to be to become what I have become and what I will keep becoming in the future; more human, more comprehensive, more mature and more conscious.

·         What do you like the most about your profession?

è I love the fact is not a static profession, teaching requires investigating, learning, proposing, leading, acting, singing, sacrificing, enjoying, and so many other things I could make a really long list of the things I have experience myself. I tend to get bored and distracted easily, and when I find not passion on what I do, I simply loose interest, but teaching keeps me active, thoughtful, creative, helpful, collaborative and even stressed which drives me to problem solving. That is what I love the most about my profession.

·         What is the greatest satisfaction you have had as a teacher?

è Probably the smile of a kid or young kid when developing an activity I designed, the gratitude for the experience and knowledge they have discovered with my help, the recognition of my employer and work team after a year of hard work. Those are some of the greatest satisfactions I have personally had.

·         In your opinion: What is the sense of being an English teacher?

è Opening boarders, it is difficult to have students interested on a language that is not theirs, but when you make them conscious about the relevance of knowing how to express and understand ideas in a new language to express themselves in an English or even a non-English speaking country, they eventually would understand the relevance and the power of having the ability to cross boarder lines with a language.

What is the problem you want to address? I would like to "Analyze the impact of students being free to select and bring into the classroom visual material of their interests (short-films) to foster classroom debating." What outcome do you hope to achieve with this project? I would like to be able to offer evidence to the fact that letting students bring into the classroom learning tools of their preference fosters students' interest to participate, debate, discuss and create around language learning. Context of the Problem What evidence do you have that there is something that needs changing in your locus of control? According to the Oxford learner's dictionary freedom refers to the power or right to do or say what you want without anyone stopping you. (Definition of freedom noun from the Oxford Advanced Learner's Dictionary) But taking account that a classroom dynamic should be a monitored and guided experience in which teachers take the place of advisors, It wou...
